If you’re starting vlogging with your phone, you’d be thrilled to get started. The reason I’m so happy for you is that you’re not worried about any point-and-shoot or DSLR camera to get for vlogging. Most vlogging starters overthink when they’re starting out.

They look at YouTube influencers and top vloggers who have amazing camera gear so they think they also need such camera gear to start vlogging.

I’m glad you’re starting or have started vlogging with your phone.

Now, you may also think that you should also edit vlogs on the phone. I’m here to tell you that if you make vlogs on your phone, it doesn’t necessarily mean you must edit your vlogs on the phone. You can simply use your PC to edit your vlogs. In case, you don’t have a computer, then you can surely edit your videos on the phone.

5 Apps/Softwares to Edit Vlogs on the Phone/PC

  1. Filmora 9

Filmora 9 is my go-to video editing software. It’s easy to use, affordable, and full-fledged video editor for vloggers and YouTubers. Ever since Wondershare launched Filmora 9 version, it has got much better as compared to its predecessors. If you have a laptop or PC, make sure you get this software. It doesn’t require users to be experts in video editing; anyone can get their hands on this software and get the job done. Meaning, I highly recommend using this video editing software if you’re just starting out on YouTube.

2. DaVinci Resolve

DaVinci Resolve is a free video editing software from Blackmagic. However, the studio version of Resolve is paid, but the free edition does the job for vloggers and YouTubers. The studio version is for studios and production houses that work on high-end video editing. So if you’re going to vlog on your phone, don’t hesitate to get DaVinci Resolve installed on your computer and edit vlogs like a pro.

3. VivaCut

VivaCut is a fantastic video editing app for Android. I’ve tested a handful of Android apps for video editing, but I found VivaCut the best one so far. Feel free to explore more apps on the App Store and Play Store, but VivaCut is my favorite Android app for video editing. It’s free, easy-to-use, and equipped with many features. Give it a try.

4. VlogIt

VlogIt is a free video editing app from Wondershare. It’s available for both Android and iOS. I have tested it once so I can say that it does seem like a good video editing app for beginners. It was certainly better than lots of video editing apps that I tested in the past.

5. iMovie

iMovie is an iOS video editing app from Apple. It’s a simple and easy app for iOS users. You can install it on your iPhone and iPad to edit your videos. I’ve seen vloggers and YouTubers edit their videos on iMovie. Try it out and see how it works for you.

Should You Edit Vlog on Your Phone?

I don’t see any harm in editing your vlog on your phone once in a while, especially if you’re traveling or you’re on the go. Sometimes, you can’t carry your laptop so it’s understandable to edit your vlog on your phone. But I’d suggest editing videos/vlogs on your PC with a video editing software of your choice.

The reason is that shooting your vlog on the phone is entirely different than editing it on the phone. You can put your phone footage along with your camera footage, and subscribers may not even notice it.

Sometimes, you don’t have a camera on you so you just film with your phone — it works with vlogging, but editing on the phone isn’t always a great way to prepare your video content.

You might come across vloggers that shoot videos on their iPhone and edit in iMovie, and you didn’t notice it until they shared that with you. You can try that too, but eventually, you’d notice that if you want to up your vlogging game, you may have to switch to a computer for video editing.
